Cattolica is a resort 24 km from Rimini and 10 km from Riccione, on the Riviera Romagnola in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. According to 2018 figures, it has 20,000 inhabitants. One of the first visitors to its beaches was Lucien Bonaparte, Napoleon´s brother. In 1823 he chose Cattolica instead of Rimini, which was too noisy for him.
The town has a large, fine sandy beach with shallow water, and the beach is lined with hotels and apartment blocks and the surrounding hills. It is typically a family resort, with small children everywhere on the beach, giving it a real family atmosphere. In Piazza I Maggio, in the evenings, you can enjoy the light and water shows of Cattolica´s atmospheric music-dancing fountain. For those who just want to go to the beach and bask in the sun, this small town with its beautiful, high-quality infrastructure is the place to be. The many restaurants offer fine cuisine, the bars offer special drinks and the many shops offer an Italian shopping experience.
Children and adults alike will enjoy the town´s famous Aquarium, the Acquario di Cattolica.
